Sports Aerobics

Sport Aerobics

Also called aerobic gymnastics, sports aerobics was developed in the 1970s. It combines aerobics, sports acrobatics, and rhythmic gymnastics with music, dance and choreography. The goal is to build physical strength as well as flexibility. Agility, coordination and endurance are all developed in one session rather than focusing on one particular exercise. It was very popular for young people because it allowed them to show their enthusiasm and vigor. Contrary to popular belief sports aerobics are meant to be performed by both men and women.

Aerobic Gymnastics

Like its cousins aerobic gymnastics is not only a form of exercise but is also used in competition. It is highly encouraged and desirable for those who play this game to get men involved. Like artistic gymnastics many men see the tight clothing and flexible movements and shrink away because it’s a feminine activity. This is a negative attitude because aerobic workouts focus on more than just building muscles. They work on the heart and endurance while also toning the physique. A man serious about his health will have an exercise regimen that includes stretches for flexibility and calisthenics for heart health. Sports aerobics claims to be a good solution that also provides competitions which many believe men enjoy and are drawn to. It also is enjoyable because of the amount of variety involved in a routine. It is not just about repetitive exercise, sports aerobics throw in a lot of different variety and can offer those who participate an enjoyable alternative.

Sport Aerobic Competitions

Aerobic competitions are big deals in the modern day. They used to be small regional or club-oriented competitions where people got to show off their skills. There are now big prizes involved and it is definitely something worth getting excited about. There are even now a World Aerobic Championship and World Aerobic Cup. It is thought that sports aerobics will eventually be a part of the Olympic games and that it’s only a matter of time. Seeing how it shows close relation to gymnastics it can’t be long before the sport starts to get more recognition. It already has a decent following and is thought to be easier because it is more accessible to the common man. The only negative on its side is that many movements within sports aerobics look very similar to break dancing which some people may turn their nose at because of its connection to pop culture. It’s always good to check out up and coming trends, check out your local gym to see if there are any classes. It may be worth it just to see what sports aerobics is all about.
